브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 삼성은 대형 산불로 피해를 입은 경북·경남 지역 주민들을 위로하고 복구를 돕기 위해 30억 원을 지원한다고 26일 밝혔다.
이번 성금 기부에는 삼성전자, 삼성디스플레이, 삼성SDI, 삼성전기, 삼성SDS, 삼성생명, 삼성화재, 삼성물산 등 8개 관계사가 참여했으며, 성금은 대한적십자사를 통해 전달될 예정이다.
지원금은 경남 산청, 경남 하동, 경북 의성, 울산 울주 등 특별재난지역의 피해 복구에 사용될 계획이다.
삼성은 임시 대피소에서 생활하고 있는 이재민들을 위해 생필품 등이 포함된 재해구호키트 1,000개와 거주용 천막 600개도 추가로 제공하기로 했다.
한편, 삼성은 국내외에서 대규모 자연재해가 발생할 때마다 피해 복구와 구호 활동을 위한 사회적 노력에 적극적으로 동참해왔다.
2023년에는 충남·경북·전남 지역과 강원 지역에서 발생한 산불 피해 복구를 위해 각각 30억 원의 성금을 대한적십자사에 기부했다. 2022년에도 울진·강원 산불과 서울·경기·강원 지역의 집중호우 피해 복구를 위해 총 30억 원을 지원하고, 긴급구호키트 제공 및 침수 가전 무상 점검 등을 실시한 바 있다.

이 밖에도 2020년 호주 산불 당시 100만 호주달러(한화 약 8억 7천만 원), 2018년 인도네시아 지진 피해 복구를 위해 60만 달러(한화 약 8억 원), 2017년 멕시코 지진 피해 지원금으로 2,000만 페소(한화 약 14억 원), 2015년 네팔 지진 피해 지원금으로 50만 달러(한화 약 6억 7천만 원)를 기부하며 글로벌 사회공헌 활동을 지속해오고 있다.
한편, 삼성은 매년 이웃돕기 성금을 기부하며 사회적 책임을 실천하고 있다. 2024년과 2023년에는 각각 500억 원의 이웃돕기 성금을 지원했으며, 2022년에는 이태원 참사 피해 지원금으로 50억 원을 기부한 바 있다.
