브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 수입 승용차 판매시장에서 테슬라 'Model Y'가 독보적인 1위를 유지하고 있다.

한국수입자동차협회(KAIDA)에 따르면 2025년 9월 국내 수입 승용차 신규등록대수는 3만2834대로 집계됐다. 이는 지난 8월 2만7304대보다 20.3% 증가한 수치이며, 전년 동월 대비(2만4839대)보다 32.2% 늘어난 결과다. 

올해1월부터 9월까지 누적 등록대수는 22만5348대로, 전년 동기보다 15.7% 증가하며 수입차 시장이 꾸준한 성장세를 이어가고 있다.

정윤영 KAIDA 부회장은 “9월 수입 승용차 신규등록은 일부 브랜드의 원활한 물량수급, 신차효과 및 적극적인 마케팅 등으로 전월대비 증가했다”라고 설명했다.

모델별 베스트셀링카를 비교해보면, 테슬라 Model Y가 7383대로 압도적 1위를 이어가고 있다. 

이어 메르세데스-벤츠 E200 1981대, BMW 520모델 1539대, 벤츠 E300 4MATIC 984대, 테슬라 Model Y 롱레인지 978대 순으로 팔리며 상위권을 차지했다. 

중국 전기차 브랜드 BYD의 SEALION 7은 825대로 6위에 이름을 올리며 전기차 시장의 다변화를 보여주었고, 테슬라 Model 3는 707대, 렉서스 ES300h 614대, 볼보 XC60 B5 AWD 584대, 아우디 Q4 45 e-tron 502대가 뒤를 이었다.

브랜드별 등록대수를 봐도 테슬라가 9069대로 1위를 기록하며 전기차 인기를 다시 한번 입증했다. 뒤를 이어 벤츠 6904대, BMW 6610대, 아우디 1426대, 렉서스 1417대, 볼보 1399대, BYD 1020대, 토요타 912대, 포르쉐 803대, 미니 798대 순으로 집계됐다. 

이외에도 랜드로버, 폴스타, 포드, 지프, 폭스바겐 등 다양한 브랜드가 상위권을 형성했다.

한편 이번 9월 통계는 전기차와 SUV 모델의 강세가 뚜렷하며, 전통적인 독일 브랜드의 꾸준한 판매도 여전함을 보여준다. 특히 전기차가 상위권에 자리하며 국내 수입차 시장에서 전기차 확산이 지속되고 있음을 확인할 수 있다.

Tesla's Model Y Maintains Top Spot as Best-Selling Imported Car in September

Tesla's Model Y maintains its unrivaled lead in the imported passenger car market.

According to the Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association (KAIDA), the number of newly registered imported passenger cars in Korea in September 2025 reached 32,834. This represents a 20.3% increase from 27,304 units in August and a 32.2% increase from 24,839 units in the same month last year.

From January to September of this year, cumulative registrations reached 225,348 units, a 15.7% increase year-on-year, demonstrating the continued growth of the imported car market.

KAIDA Vice Chairman Jeong Yoon-young explained, "Newly registered imported passenger cars in September increased compared to the previous month due to smooth supply and demand for some brands, the new car effect, and aggressive marketing."

Comparing best-selling cars by model, the Tesla Model Y continues to dominate with 7,383 units sold.

Following this, the Mercedes-Benz E200 (1,981 units), BMW 520 (1,539 units), Mercedes-Benz E300 4MATIC (984 units), and Tesla Model Y Long Range (978 units) rounded out the top rankings.

The SEALION 7 from Chinese electric vehicle brand BYD ranked sixth with 825 units sold, demonstrating the diversification of the electric vehicle market. The Tesla Model 3 followed with 707 units, the Lexus ES300h (614 units), the Volvo XC60 B5 AWD (584 units), and the Audi Q4 45 e-tron (502 units).

Tesla once again demonstrated the popularity of electric vehicles by taking first place with 9,069 units registered by brand.
