민중기 특검팀 수사를 받던 현직 공무원이 극단적 선택을 했다. 국민의힘은 물론이고 세간에서도 특검에 대한 불신과 반감이 팽배한 가운데 김문수 전 대선후보는 12일 자신의 페이스북을 통해 "정희철 양평군 단월면장님의 명복을 빈다"는 제하의 글을 통해 고인을 애도했다.

김 전 대선후보는 이어 "양평에서 태어나서 33년 동안 공무원으로 양평군민을 위해 근무하시다가 이렇게 돌아가시다니 너무 애통하다"며 "악독한 이재명 정권의 특검에 불려가서 강압수사 받은 것을 견디지 못하고 세상을 원망하며 떠난 것이 유서에 생생하게 적혀 있다"고 전했다.

아울러 "저는 많은 유서를 보았지만 정희철 면장님의 유서만큼 구체적이고 뚜렷한 유서는 보지 못했다"고 피력했다. 이는 강압이 없었다는 특검의 해명을 사실상 정면 반박한 것으로 풀이된다. 덧붙여 "대한민국에 경찰, 검찰, 공수처 다 있는데 특검이 왜 또 필요하냐"고 반문했다.

그러면서 “'숙청과 혁명'을 위해 특검이 얼마나 더 많은 국민을 희생시켜야 하느냐"는 깊은 우려와 함께 "이재명 정권은 지금이라도 신속하게 살인 특검을 해체해야 한다"고 성토했다.
