브레이크뉴스 노보림 기자= 2026학년도 대학수학능력시험(수능)이 13일 오전 8시 40분 국어 영역을 시작으로 전국 85개 시험지구, 1310개 시험장에서 일제히 시행됐다. 올해 수능 응시자는 총 55만4174명으로, 2019학년도(59만4924명) 이후 7년 만에 가장 많다.

응시 인원이 늘어난 것은 ‘황금돼지띠’ 영향으로 고3 재학생 수가 증가했기 때문이다. 재학생 응시자는 37만1897명으로 전년 대비 9.1% 늘었으며, 최근 5년간 가장 많은 수준이다. 반면 졸업생은 1.2% 줄어든 15만9922명, 검정고시 등 기타 지원자는 11.2% 증가한 2만2355명으로 집계됐다.

올해 의과대학 정원은 지난해 4485명에서 3016명(정원 내 기준)으로 크게 줄었다. 정부가 의정 갈등 해소를 위해 한시적으로 모집 인원을 축소했기 때문이다. 치대·한의대·약대·수의대를 포함한 의약학계열 전체 선발 규모는 6671명으로, 전년도(8071명)보다 17.3% 감소했다.

오승걸 한국교육과정평가원장은 이날 정부세종청사에서 브리핑을 열고 “평가원은 수능을 공정하고 엄정하게 관리하는 데 최선을 다하겠다”며 “그동안 노력해온 수험생 여러분께 따뜻한 격려와 응원을 전한다”고 말했다.

시험 편의 제공 대상자는 943명으로, 이들은 필요한 지원을 받으며 시험에 응시한다. 평가원은 이날부터 17일 오후 6시까지 출제 문항에 대한 이의신청을 접수하며, 심사 과정을 거쳐 25일 오후 5시에 확정 정답을 발표할 예정이다. 성적 통지일은 다음 달 5일이다.

올해 수능 난이도는 전문가들 사이에서도 의견이 엇갈린다.

이만기 유웨이 교육평가연구소장은 “의대 정원과 졸업생이 줄었기 때문에 전반적으로 평이한 난이도 속에서 일부 문항으로 변별력을 확보할 가능성이 높다”며 “평가원이 ‘어렵게 출제하지 않겠다’는 기조를 유지할 것”이라고 내다봤다.

반면 임성호 종로학원 대표는 “킬러문항 배제 방침에도 불구하고 변별력 있는 출제가 이뤄질 것”이라며 “통합수능 이후 최근 4년간의 경향을 보면 이번 수능 역시 변별력이 유지될 가능성이 높다”고 전망했다. 실제 9월 모의평가에서는 국어·수학 영역 모두 만점자가 줄어드는 등 난이도가 다소 높게 나타난 바 있다.

한편, 올해도 이공계 학생들이 사회탐구 과목을 선택하는 이른바 ‘사탐런’ 현상이 이어졌다. 전체 탐구 응시자 53만1951명 중 사회탐구를 1과목 이상 선택한 비율은 77.3%에 달했다. 사회탐구에서는 사회문화·생활과윤리 두 과목에 66.8%, 과학탐구에서는 지구과학Ⅰ·생명과학Ⅰ 두 과목에 69.5%의 수험생이 몰렸다.

김병진 이투스 교육평가연구소장은 “수능은 상대평가이기 때문에 응시 인원의 변화가 주요 변수가 될 수밖에 없다”며 “응시생 구성 변화가 각 영역별 난이도 체감에도 영향을 줄 것”이라고 분석했다.
