7일 포항시청 대외협력실에서 열린 축하의 자리에는 포항스틸러스의 최인석 대표이사, 이종하 단장, 김기동 감독과 고영준 선수가 참석했다.

이날 행사에 참석한 김기동 감독은 이번 우승으로 지난 2019년 감독 데뷔 이후 첫 우승을 맛보았고, 고영준 선수는 지난 항저우 아시안게임 금메달에 이어 FA컵 우승까지 달성하며 기쁨을 더하게 됐다.

고영준 선수는 항저우 아시안게임 금메달 축전을 전해줬던 이강덕 포항시장에게 감사의 마음을 전달하기 위해 선수 대표로 참석했다고 말해 분위기를 밝게 만들었다.

이강덕 시장은 “포항스틸러스가 역전승으로 FA컵 우승이라는 큰 기쁨을 시민들에게 안겨줘 너무 감사하게 생각한다”며 “우승컵을 들어올리기 까지 열심히 노력해 준 선수들의 땀과 노력에 박수를 보내며, 지금까지의 50년처럼 축구 도시 포항에서 강한 팀으로 앞으로 100년을 함께 가보자”고 말했다.

최인석 대표이사는 “항상 구단을 항상 응원해 주시는 포항시민에게 우승의 영광을 돌려드릴 수 있어 기쁜 마음”이라며, “앞으로도 선수들에게 변함없는 사랑과 지지를 부탁드린다”고 전했다.

한편 포항스틸러스는 대한민국 최초의 축구전용구장 스틸야드 건설, K리그 유소년시스템 정착, 최초의 클럽하우스 개장, 명예의 전당 등 최초의 역사를 써오며 사랑받고 있는 국내에서 가장 오래된 프로 축구단이다.
