28일 국민의힘 공천관리위원회는 일반시민과 책임당원을 대상으로 진행된 국민의힘 포항시 북구 경선결과 현역의원인 김정재 의원이 선출됐다고 밝혔다.
김정재 의원은 “압도적인 지지와 성원을 보내주신 포항시민 여러분과 당원동지들께 감사드린다”며 “윤종진 예비후보를 비롯한 공천을 신청했던 모든 후보들의 뜻을 새겨 총선 압승과 포항발전을 위해 온 힘을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
특히 김 의원은 “지금 우리 포항은 미래 100년을 결정지을 중요한 기로에 서 있다”면서 “지난 50년간 포항을 이끌어왔던 철강산업 일변의 산업구조를 다변화하고, 이차전지·수소산업, 바이오·헬스 산업 등 미래첨단산업을 선도하는 도시를 만들겠다”고 밝혔다.
김정재 의원은 “이번 총선을 깨끗하고 건전한 선거문화가 정착되는 계기로 만들어 진정한 ‘시민의 축제’가 될 수 있도록 마지막까지 정정당당한 자세로 임하겠다”고 다짐했다.
