브레이크뉴스 박동제 기자= 중국 당국에 구금됐던 축구 국가대표 출신 손준호 선수가 10개월 여만에 석방돼 한국으로 돌아왔다.
대한축구협회는 지난 25일 “중국 당국에 구금 중이던 손준호가 석방돼 25일 오후 인천공항을 통해 귀국했다”고 발표했다. 외교부도 “손준호의 구금이 종료돼 한국으로 돌아왔다”고 밝혔다. 손준호의 석방은 지난해 5월 체포된 이후 10개월 만이다.
K리그 MVP 출신 손준호는 2022 카타르월드컵에도 출전했던 국가대표 출신 미드필더다. 2021년부터 중국 프로축구 산둥 타이산에서 활약했던 손준호는 지난해 5월 중국 상하이 훙차오공항에서 한국으로 귀국하려가 공안에 연행됐다.
손준호에게 적용됐던 혐의는 정부 기관 소속이 아닌 사람이 직무상 편리를 이용해 타인의 재물을 불법 수수한 ‘비(非)국가공작인원 수뢰죄’다. 당시 손준호가 승부 조작에 가담했거나 산둥 이적 과정에서 금품이 오갔을 가능성이 제기됐으나, 손준호 측이 해당 의혹을 강력하게 부인했다.
중국 공안은 지난해 6월 손준호에 대한 형사 구류 기한이 만료되자 구속(체포) 수사로 전환했고, 손준호는 최근 재판을 받은 뒤 지난주 석방돼 어제(25일) 귀국하게 됐다. 다만 유무죄 여부 등 구체적인 내용은 확인되지 않았다.
