이날 저녁 한화와 경기가 열린 인천 SSG랜더스필드에서 유정복 인천시장, 허구연 KBO총재, 민경삼 SSG랜더스 대표이사가 함께 참석해 야구팬들 앞에서 직접 올스타전 인천 개최를 발표했다.
인천에서 열리는 것은 2008년 이후 16년 만이며, SSG랜더스 창단 이후 홈구장에서 열리는 첫 번째 올스타전이다.
