세종국어문화원 인문학 연구소(정성현 소장)는 <사회적 독서공동체 독서모임 활성화 방안> 특별 토론회를 7월 5일 오후 3시부터 6시까지 서울 시민청 워크숍룸에서 개최했다.
이 행사에는 독서교육 전문가, 독서모임 운영자, 그리고 독서모임에 관심 있는 시민 등이 참석하여 사회적 연대를 촉진하는 독서모임의 활성화 방안에 대해 깊이 있는 논의가 이루어졌다.

정성현 인문학연구소장의 개회사에 이어 김슬옹 세종국어문화원 원장과 박찬호 시인, 정남길 글쓰기틔움 회장, 정은영 마리북스 대표의 축사로 시작된 특별 토론회는 서현정 사무국장의 사회로 1부 5편의 주제 발표와 2부에서는 종합 토론을 진행했다.
1984년 연세대 재학 시절 동아리라는 말을 처음으로 보급한 김슬옹 원장(세종국어문화원)은 “독서공동체는 저자, 독자, 출판사, 유통 전문가 등 책을 사랑하는 모든 이들의 책꿈 동아리라서 더욱 의미가 깊어 책 읽는 문화에 큰 영향을 미칠 것”이라고 강조했다.
1부 행사는 안장호(인천정석항공과학고 교사)의 ‘학교 독서 토론 동아리’, 이명자(충암초 교사)의 ‘성인 학습 독서 모임’, 이주희(인독기 대표) ‘인독기 독서습관 만들기’, 채성모(채손독 대표) ‘출판사와 작가 그리고 독서 모임과의 상생’, 김들풀(문학뉴스 편집장)의 ‘비판적 사고와 융합토론’ 등 다양한 대상과 대면, 비대면 독서 모임 등 실제 독서모임 운영 사례 발표가 이어졌다.
특히 이명자 교사는 독서모임에서 보다 책과의 소통을 위해서는 다양한 분야에 대한 '학습' 도 중요함을 강조했다. 학습 독서는 학습량이 누적될수록 모임 구성원의 사고력 등 개별 능력이 신장되어 토론의 질도 높아지는 만큼 구성 상호간의 존중과 이해도도 높아져, 지적 만남의 즐거움과 평생교육의 기쁨을 동시에 맛볼 수 있다고 했다.

2부 행사는 종합 토론으로 박광근, 김진영, 고민서, 권희숙, 김채영, 정영선, 박정림 작가 등이 열띤 토론을 펼쳤다.
김진영(글쓰기키움)토론자는 “다양한 독서 모임의 사례와 활성화 방안을 공유할 수 있어 매우 유익한 시간이었다”라며 “이번 토론회를 계기로 더 많은 사람들이 독서 모임에 활발하게 참여하기를 바란다.”고 했다.
이어서 나선영, 문선영, 김재정, 인선민, 윤수영, 성정순, 김세희 작가의 제안과 행사 소감을 나누었다.

참가자들은 이번 토론회가 참여하고 있는 독서 모임 활성화를 위해 중요한 전환점이 될 것이라고 입을 모았다.
세종국어문화원 정성현 인문학연구소소장은 “독서 모임 활성화는 개인의 독서 능력뿐만 아니라 건강한 공동체를 위해서도 중요하다. 이번 논의가 실제 독서 모임 활성화로 이어지기를 기대하며 앞으로 지속적인 관심과 노력을 기울이겠다”라고 했다.
개인적 독서에서 사회적 독서로 함께하는, 사회적 독서공동체의 역량 함양은 우리 사회가 더 나은 미래로 나아가는 데 중요한 역할을 할 것이다. 이를 위해 각계각층의 협력과 지원이 필요하며, 다양한 방안들이 실질적으로 실행되기를 바란다.

The Sejong Korean Language and Culture Center Humanities Research Institute (Director Jeong Seong-hyeon) held a special discussion session on on July 5 from 3 to 6 p.m. in the workshop room of the Seoul Citizens' Hall.
This event was attended by reading education experts, book club operators, and citizens interested in reading clubs, and an in-depth discussion took place on ways to revitalize reading clubs that promote social solidarity.
Following the opening speech by Director Jeong Seong-hyeon of the Humanities Research Institute, the special discussion began with congratulatory remarks by Kim Seul-ong, Director of Sejong Korean Language and Culture Center, poet Park Chan-ho, Writing Club President Jeong Nam-gil, and Maribooks CEO Jeong Eun-young. The special discussion was moderated by Secretary-General Seo Hyeon-jeong and included presentations of five topics in Part 1 and a comprehensive discussion in Part 2. proceeded.
