브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= KB국민은행은 법률 사각지대에 있는 사회·경제적 약자를 위한 무료법률구조사업기부금 17억원을 대한법률구조공단에 전달했다고 10일 밝혔다.

KB국민은행은 2012년부터 학교폭력 피해자 소송 지원 및 피해 예방 강의를 시작으로 국내 거주 외국인, 공무집행 과정에서 소송에 휘말린 경찰·소방관 등을 위한 법률 지원을 지속 운영하고 있다. 

지난해에는 개인회생·파산면책 신청자 등으로 지원 대상 및 금액을 확대해 사회·경제적 취약계층의 금융회복 기회를 제공하는 등 2만여 명에게 무료법률지원을 제공했다.

이번 기부는 지난해 10월 KB국민은행이 대한법률구조공단과 맺은 무료법률구조사업 업무협약을 바탕으로 이뤄졌다. KB국민은행은 올해 17억원을 포함해 3년간 51억원을 지원하며 취약계층의 금융회복 기회 마련에 앞장설 계획이다. 

무료법률지원 신청은 132 콜센터로 전화 또는 가까운 법률구조공단을 방문해 지원대상 확인 가능 서류 및 소송 관련 자료를 제출하면 된다. 학교폭력 피해자는 피해 학생으로 인정할 수 있는 진단서를, 외국인 근로자는 여권과 외국인 등록증을 구비해야 한다. 

경찰·소방공무원과 개인회생·파산신청자의 경우 각각 재직증명서 또는 급여증명서와 부채증명서 등을 준비하면 된다.

KB국민은행 관계자는 “이번 기부로 법률 사각지대에 있는 사회·경제적 취약계층 분들이 새롭게 시작할 수 있는 기회를 얻길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 우리 사회 내 다양한 소외계층을 포용하고 함께 상생할 수 있도록 기업의 사회적 책임 실천에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
