윤석열 대통령 지지율이 계엄사태 직후 17.5%에서 3일 발표된 조사에선 34.4%로 두배나 껑충 뛰었다. 전국이 고르게 올랐고 특히 호남권에서도 24.6% 지지율이 나왔다. 여론조사공정 외 다른 기관의 조사에서도 비슷한 추세로 나오고 있다.

이는 지지율 흐름이 8년 전 탄핵정국과는 다르게 전개되고 있음을 보여주는 수치로 여론조사 전문가들도 이견은 없다는 평가다.

이런 상승세의 원인은 대행의 대행으로 이어진 야당의 탄핵 횡포와 현직대통령 체포까지 막 나가는 공수처 수사의 공정성에 의문이 제기되면서 보수층의 결집이 이루어지기 때문인 것으로 판단된다.

여기에 자극 받은 지지자들이 볼 때 윤대통령의 탄핵, 수사, 체포 등 이 일련의 사태가 적법을 가장한 정권탈취를 노린 좌파세력의 음모로 점차 인식하기 시작한 것 같다. 더불어민주당이 헌재에 탄핵사유에서 내란죄 철회를 요청한 것도 보수층의 이런 의심을 증폭시키고 있다.
