(구례=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자=전남 구례군은 산동면에 생활밀착형 숲을 조성해 지역 주민들에게 새로운 힐링 공간을 선사했다고 밝혔다.

군은 지역 주민의 정주 여건 개선과 생활 속 정원문화 확산을 위한 도시 숲을 조성하기 위해 산림청 생활권역 실외정원 공모사업을 신청하여 2024년 생활밀착형 숲 사업 대상지로 선정됐다.

군은 국비 2억 5천만 원 등 총사업비 5억 원을 들여 다목적체육관 주변(산동면 원촌리 31번지 일원)에 5,000㎡ 규모의 숲을 조성하여 최근 주민들에게 개방했다.

이 숲은 구례 산동면 산수유마을 이미지를 부각시키기 위해 산수유나무를 군락 식재하고, 붉은 산수유 열매를 연상케 하는 홍단풍, 자엽자두, 홍가시 등 교목과 관목류를 혼용 식재했다.

수목 주변에는 수국, 버들마편초, 패랭이 등 여름에 꽃을 볼 수 있는 초화류도 심었다. 쉼터 광장 중심에는 팽나무를 심어 그늘을 제공하고 미세먼지를 차단할 수 있게 하였으며 화단 구조물을 편의시설로 활용할 수 있도록 했다. 또 산책길은 숲을 맨발로도 걸을 수 있도록 황톳길로 포장해 휴식과 건강에 도움이 되는 주민 친화 공간을 연출했다.

이번 사업을 통해 사용되지 않던 공한지가 주민들이 자연과 함께 힐링할 수 있는 정원으로 새롭게 탈바꿈했다.
