[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 행복과 건강을 가장 먼저 전하는 봄의 전령사 복수초(福壽草)가 경남수목원 내 황금빛 꽃망울을 터트렸다

복수초는 ‘복(福)과 장수(壽)를 주는 풀’이라는 뜻을 가지고 있으며 ‘눈속에서 꽃이 핀다’고 하여 설연화 등으로 불리기도 한다.

밤과 이른 아침에 꽃잎을 닫고 있다가 일출과 함께 꽃잎을 점차 펼치는 특징이 있어 오전 11시부터 오후 3시께가 황금빛 복수초를 감상하기에 가장 좋은 시간대이다.

이와 더불어 앙상한 나뭇가지에 꽃 모양 색종이를 잘라 모은 듯 한 풍년화, 섣달(음력 12월)에 피는 매화라는 뜻의 납매(臘梅) 등도 피어 수목원 방문객들에게 봄이 시작되고 있음을 알리고 있다.
