오는 27일부터 31일까지 열리는 대회에는 아시아 45개국에서 약 1,200명의 선수단 및 임원 등이 참가한다.

다양한 국가에서 수많은 선수들이 참여하는 만큼 구미시는 선수들의 최적의 경기 환경 조성을 위해 숙박, 식사, 수송, 안전관리, 주변환경 등 필수 사항을 종합적으로 점검했다.

약 700여 명의 선수들이 불편함 없이 생활할 수 있도록 ▶객실 환경 및 안전성 ▶식사 제공 시스템 ▶셔틀버스 운영 계획 ▶응급 상황 대비 비상체계 ▶선수촌 주변 환경 등을 철저히 점검했다.

특히 깨끗한 도시 환경 조성을 위한 ‘우리동네 클린 START’ 운동을 추진 중이다.

경기장 주변뿐만 아니라 읍·면·동 전역에서 대대적인 환경정비가 이뤄질 예정으로 환경 정비 실적이 뛰어난 읍·면·동을 선정해 적극적인 참여를 유도할 방침이다.

김장호 구미시장은 “선수들이 최고의 컨디션에서 경기에 임할 수 있도록 모든 준비를 철저히 하고 있다”며 “시민 여러분의 적극적인 협조 속에 성공적인 대회가 될 수 있도록 많은 관심과 응원을 부탁드린다”고 했다.
