(나주=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자=한전KDN이 광주‧전남 공동혁신도시로 이전한 이후 지속적인 장애인 체육선수들의 취업과 활동을 적극적으로 지원하고 있다.

한전KDN은 2019년 9월 전남장애인체육회와 업무협약을 체결하고 작년 9월 협약 갱신 체결로 장애인 체육인들에게 안정적인 근무 환경을 제공하고 선수들이 훈련과 경기에서 최상의 기량을 발휘할 수 있도록 다양한 지원을 이어오고 있다.

2019년 최초 업무협약과 함께 5명의 장애인 체육선수를 인턴 채용한 이후에 매년 꾸준히 종목과 선수단 규모를 확장하고 있으며 국가대표를 배출하고 국내‧외 대회에 참가하여 성과를 창출하고 있으며 최근까지 14개 종목의 40여명 선수를 지원하고 있다.

특히, 2024년 파리 패럴림픽에는 한전KDN 소속으로 펜싱과 양궁 종목에 국가대표로 참석한 2명의 선수를 포함하여 자사 소속 선수들의 훈련을 위한 장비 및 시설 지원, 대회 참가 비용 등을 아끼지 않고 있다.

한전KDN 소속 장애인 체육선수는 “한전KDN의 지원 덕분에 안정적인 환경에서 훈련에 집중할 수 있었고, 국내외 대회에서도 좋은 성과를 낼 수 있었다"며 "앞으로도 더욱 좋은 경기력을 보여줄 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 말했다.
