평택호 횡단도로는 왕복 4차로의 총연장 11.69㎞ 규모로 총 3127억 원(국비 2667억, 도비 15억, 시비 445억)이 투입돼 조성됐다.

지금까지 1-2공구(현덕면 기산리~신왕리)와 2공구(현덕면 신왕리~팽성읍 본정리)가 각각 2018년과 2020년 개통해 운영 중이며, 이번 1-1공구(포승읍 신영리~현덕면 기산리) 준공으로 도로 전체 구간이 완성됐다.

시는 이번 개통으로 평택 서남부 지역의 도로 교통량이 분산됨에 따라 교통 편의성이 대폭 향상될 것으로 내다봤다. 특히 물류 수송의 효율성이 증대돼 지역 경제 활성화도 기대한다고 밝혔다.
