브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 국민의힘은 10대 중국인 2명이 수원, 평택, 오산, 청주 공군기지를 돌며 F-35A 스텔스기 등 첨단자산을 비롯한 한미 공군전력을 몰래 촬영하다 붙잡힌 것과 관련 "우려가 또 현실이 됐다"며 간첩법 개정을 촉구했다.

호준석 국민의힘 대변인은 이날 논평을 통해 "이들이 미 항공모함이 입항할 국내 도시로 가는 교통편까지 예매한 상태였고, 이들 중 한 명의 부모는 중국 공안인 것으로 밝혀졌다"라며 "중국 정보요원이나 유학생들이 국가 주요 정보를 빼내거나 중요 시설을 촬영하다 붙잡힌 사례가 1년 새 5건에 달한다"고 설명했다. 

이어 "이는 결코 우발적 사건이나 일회성 사고가 아니다"라며 "그러나 이들은 '간첩죄'로 처벌받지 않는다. 간첩죄 적용 범위가 '외국'이 아닌 '적국', 즉 북한으로 한정돼 있기 때문"이라고 지적했다. 

또 "간첩죄 적용 범위를 확대하자는 법 개정 필요성이 제기된 지 2년이 넘었지만, 여전히 국회에서 진전이 없다"고 했다.

호 대변인은 "국회를 지배하는 민주당이 겉으로는 찬성한다면서도 실제로는 이런저런 이유로 법사위 통과조차 시키지 않고 있다"며 "국가안보에 구멍이 뚫렸는데, 왜 중국에만 이로운 간첩법을 못 고치게 하는지 묻지 않을 수 없다"고 말했다.

또한 그는 "중국은 외국인이 정권을 비판하는 기사를 검색하거나 정부 통계자료를 저장만 해도 처벌할 수 있는 반민주적 '반간첩법'을 시행 중"이라며, "우리 주권과 안보를 지키는 일에 여야가 따로 있을 수 없다"고 강조했다.
