해양수산부 인가 사단법인 대한민국독도협회는 2025년도 독도교육 실시로 지난 4월3일 서울 배문중학교 독도강의를 시작으로 8일 평택 소사벌 초등학교, 9일 고창 영선중학교, 10일 익산 한벌초등학교에서 청소년 독도교육을 실시했다고 밝혔다.

일본의 독도 영유권 주장은 점차 강력해지는데 우리 학교 교육에서는 제대로 된 독도교육이 매우 부족하고 청소년들은 독도 문제의 중요성을 인식하지 못하고 있는 즈음 독도교육의 더욱 중요한 시기이다.

지난 10일 익산 한벌초등학교에서 독도 교육을 실시한 박종섭 독도강사는 “독도의 탄생 배경과 경제적 가치, 학술적 가치, 군사 안보적 가치 등을 사진과 영상으로 보여주며 독도 영유권의 중요성을 교육 했다”며, “특히 충분한 질의응답으로 지적탐구 열의와 큰 관심을 보여준 한벌초등학교 학생들이 자랑스럽다”고 교육 감회를 밝혔다.

현직 대학교수 및 강사 경력 10년 이상의 독도 전문 강사를 양성한 독도협회는 올해는 독도전문 강사 역량 강화를 위해 동북아역사재단이 실시하는 독도전시 해설사 교육과정에도 5주간 참가해 교육을 받는다.
