브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 국민의힘은 16일 제21대 대통령선거 1차 경선 진출자 8명을 확정했다고 밝혔다.

당 선거관리위원회는 이날 오전 국회에서 회의를 마친 뒤 1차 경선 후보자 명단을 발표했다.

후보자는 김문수 전 고용노동부 장관, 나경원 의원, 안철수 의원, 양향자 전 의원, 유정복 인천시장, 이철우 경북도지사, 한동훈 전 국민의힘 대표, 홍준표 전 대구시장 등 8명이다.

황우여 선관위원장은 "후보 신청자들의 경쟁력과 부적합 여부를 심사해 국민 눈높이에 맞는 자질을 갖췄는지 면밀히 검토했다"고 말했다.

조기 대선인 만큼, 시간이 촉박하기 때문에 추려진 후보들은 다음날부터 바로 경선 레이스에 돌입한다.

국민의힘은 오는 17일 미디어데이를 열며 18일에는 후보자 비전대회를 진행한다. 19일부터 20일까지 이틀간 후보자 토론회가 열리며, A·B 2개 조로 나눠 하루씩 토론회를 하게 된다.

21일과 22일에는 100% 일반국민 여론조사가 진행된다. 이를 종합해 여론조사 마지막 날인 22일 저녁에 4인 경선 진출자를 발표한다.

이후 2차 경선 진출자를 대상으로 하는 일대일 주도권 토론과 4인 후보자 토론회 등이 예정됐다.

27~28일 당원 투표와 국민 여론조사가 진행되고, 29일 3차 경선 진출자 2명을 발표하게 된다. 

만약 4인 경선에서 과반 득표자가 나온다면 양자 결선을 하지 않고, 과반득표자를 최종 대선후보로 확정한다.

과반 득표자가 없다면 30일 최종 후보 2인의 토론이 진행된다. 다음달 1~2일 당원 투표와 국민 여론조사가 진행되며 3일 전당대회에서 최종 후보를 결정한다.
