[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시가 서울특별시와 정원문화 교류 확대와 박람회 성공 개최를 위해 손을 맞잡았다고 16일 밝혔다. 

양 도시는 최근 서면을 통해 ‘2025 대한민국 정원산업박람회 in 진주’와 ‘2025 서울국제정원박람회’의 상호 협력을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다.

이번 협약은 양 도시가 정원을 매개로 한 우호 교류정원을 각각의 박람회에 조성하는 내용을 담고 있다. 

진주시는 이를 통해 단순한 협조를 넘어, 문화 교류와 정원산업 발전의 기반을 마련하겠다는 계획이다.

시는 오는 5월 서울 보라매공원에서 열리는 2025 서울국제정원박람회에 진주 같은 정원, 정원 속의 진주를 주제로 한 특화 정원을 조성한다. 

진주시는 남강의 물줄기를 형상화한 동선과 지역 캐릭터 ‘하모’를 활용해 진주의 지역성을 담아낸 정원을 선보인다.

서울시는 오는 6월 13일부터 22일까지 진주 초전공원에서 열리는 ‘2025 대한민국 정원산업박람회’에 참여해, ‘정원도시 서울’의 철학을 반영한 정원을 조성할 계획이다.

특히 이번 진주 박람회는 정원 전시뿐만 아니라 다양한 체험 프로그램과 산업 연계 콘텐츠도 함께 마련돼 방문객들에게 정원의 가치와 산업적 비전을 제시할 예정이다.

진주시 관계자는 “이번 박람회를 통해 진주가 대한민국 정원문화의 중심지로 자리 잡을 수 있을 것이다”며 “시민과 관광객들의 많은 관심과 참여를 기대한다”고 말했다.
