대통령 후보들은 병역사항을 긴급 점검해 봅니다. 한국의 보훈(향군)정책은 대만의 1/5 수준이고 미국의 1/30 수준입니다. 기가 막힙니다.

이상과 같이 정식으로 병역의무를 다한 사람은 한 사람도 없습니다. 이러다보니 보훈(향군)정책에 대한 아무런 공약이나 대책도 없습니다. 불법은 아니나 국군통수권자로서의 자격과 자질에 큰 문제점이 있습니다. 그러다 보니 대선후보님들 보훈(향군)정책 선진화에 대한 공약은 없습니다.
우리나라 경제수준과 국방력에 조화를 이루는 보훈(향군)정책을 제시하고 공약을 하십시오.지난 대선에서 윤석열 후보는 병역 비리 의심자로 더불어 민주당에서 강하게 문제를 제기하였거나. 대한민국 재향군인회가 국군통수권자의 자격과 자질을 검증했다면(이상훈 회장 시 검증) 0.76%의 표차이로 당선된 윤석열은 당연히 떨어져 대통령이 못 되었습니다. 이재명이 꽤 큰 표차이로 당선되었을 것입니다.
윤석열 후보는 병역법 위반이나, 공무원 임용법 중 둘 중 하나는 분명히 위반하여 병무비리 전과자가 되었을 것입니다. 그가 대통령에 당선되지 않았다면, 당연히 당선되지 못하여 윤석열 계엄령도 없었고, 계엄령으로 인한 3,000조 정도의 경제사회적 손실도 없었을 것입니다. 지난 대선에서 민주당 이재명 후보는 자신의 병역미필의 핸디캡으로 강하게 문제제기를 하지 않아 대권의 기회를 놓쳤습니다. 이재명 후보와 더불어 민주당에게도 책임이 있습니다.

필자는 1년 전부터 윤석열 전 대통령의 병무비리와 통수권자의 자격과 자질에 대해서, 문제 제기를 한 바 있습니다. 이 사실을 재향군인회 중앙회장과 이종찬 광복회장, 김영록 전남지사, 더불어민주당 중진들에게 카톡으로 보냈었습니다. 묵묵부답이었고 오히려 인간관계도 단절되는 수모를 겪었습니다.
국방의 의무, 미필자의 자격문제와 보훈(향군)정책은 왜 이슈와 아젠다가 되지 못 할까요? 수권 정당으로서 보다 책임 있는 정당으로서 보훈(향군)정책 선진화에 발전적이고 선도적인 정책대안을 제시 했어야 했는데 아쉽습니다.
