브레이크뉴스 이제항 선임기자=한국농수산식품유통공사(aT, 사장 홍문표)와 전라남도농업기술원(원장 김행란)은 20일 전남 나주 전라남도농업기술원에서 기후변화 대응을 위한 초여름배추 시범재배 협업 업무협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
양 기관은 기후변화에 대응해 △원예농산물 기후적응형 신품종 선발과 생산확대 지원 △기후변화 대응 농산물의 신규 재배적지 발굴 △데이터 기반 AI형 관수장치 등 국산 스마트 농업기술 보급 등에 협력하기로 했다.
특히, 최근 이상기후로 재배면적이 감소한 여름 배추의 수급문제 해결을 위해 더위에 강한 신품종 ‘하라듀’와 5월 중순까지 정식해 6월 말 또는 7월 초에 수확하는 초여름배추를 해남, 완도, 화순 전라남도 3개 지역에서 시범 재배한다. 수확한 배추는 세계김치연구소와 협업으로 배추 품평을 추진해 향후 상품화 가능성도 점검할 계획이다.
홍문표 aT 사장은 “배추 전국 생산량의 32%를 차지하는 전남에서 수급 해법을 찾기 위한 구체적 시범사업을 추진하게 되어 뜻깊다”라며, “앞으로도 배추의 안정적인 수급을 위해서 신품종 육성, 재배적지 발굴, 스마트 농업기술 적용 등 다각적인 시도와 노력을 지속해 나갈 것”이라고 말했다.
