브레이크뉴스 박동제 기자= ‘히틀러 찬양 논란’에 휩싸인 세계적인 힙합 스타 칸예 웨스트(활동명 YE)의 내한 공연이 취소됐다.
19일 칸예 웨스트 내한 공연 주최사 쿠팡플레이 측은 공식입장을 내고 “가수 칸예의 최근 논란으로 인해, 오는 31일 예정이었던 ‘YE 내한 콘서트’가 부득이하게 취소됐음을 알려드린다”고 전했다.
이어 “Yeezy 브랜드 MD 상품 판매도 19일 오후 1시를 기점으로 중단될 예정이다”고 덧붙였다.
칸예 웨스트는 당초 오는 31일 인천문학경기장에서 ‘쿠팡플레이와 함께하는 YE(칸예 웨스트) 내한 콘서트 ‘BULLY’’를 개최할 예정이었으나, 이번 논란으로 인해 공연은 결국 취소됐다. 해당 공연은 2016년 월드투어 이후 9년 만에 개최되는 칸예 웨스트의 단독 콘서트였다.
한편, 칸예 웨스트는 그동안 유대인 혐오, 나치 찬양 발언 등으로 논란을 빚은 바 있다.
특히 칸예 웨스트는 유럽의 2차 세계대전 전승기념일인 지난 8일, 히틀러를 찬양하는 ‘Heil Hitler(하일 히틀러)’라는 제목의 신곡을 발표해 비난을 받았다. 해당 곡은 현재 전세계 주요 음웜 플랫폼에서 차단된 상태다.
