10일 경찰에 따르면, 이진호의 여자친구 A씨는 지난 5일 인천 부평구 자택에서 숨진 채 발견됐다. 지인이 A씨가 숨져 있는 것을 발견해 112에 신고한 것으로 알려졌다.
경찰은 이진호의 음주운전 사건과 A씨 사망 간 관련성 여부 등 정확한 사건 경위를 조사 중이다.
앞서 지난달 24일 경기 양평경찰서는 이날 오전 3시쯤 인천에서 경기 양평군까지 100km 가량 음주운전을 한 혐의로 이진호를 적발해 조사했다. 당시 이진호의 혈중알코올농도는 면허취소 수준인 0.11%였던 것으로 전해졌다.
이 가운데, 여자친구 A씨가 이진호의 음주운전을 신고했다는 것이 매체 보도를 통해 알려졌고, A씨는 각종 뉴스에 자신이 언급되자 주변에 심적 부담감을 호소한 것으로 전해졌다.
